The Moore Distinguished Scholars Program invites researchers of exceptional quality who are acclaimed at both the national and international levels to visit Caltech for a designated period of time. The program carries no teaching or other obligations during the appointment, allowing Moore Scholars to fully focus on their research.
Alwin Köhler studies the nuclear envelope, the defining feature of eukaryotes. He plans to extend his research on nuclear envelope lipid metabolism, nuclear architecture and organismal extremotolerance, while spending autumn 2023 in residence at Caltech.
Alwin Köhler is the Professor of Molecular Biology at the Max Perutz Labs and its Scientific Director. He is an ERC investigator, NOMIS researcher and Member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
